In preparation for our big trip we have done several weekends away, learning all the time. In fact we learn stuff every day and will continue to do so.
Of course our 1st trip was driving back from Melbourne after making the purchase. A very rushed one as we both are working. Arrived in Melbourne on Saturday 6th December 2008 at 6am. Picked up from the airport by a very good friend, Mana. Out to Richmond to look at a Motorhome, then to Epping, made the decision and put down a deposit. Stayed at Mana’s for the weekend then, on Monday, he drove us to the Bank to organise finance, supermarket for food, then to Epping to pick the Bus up.
After checking the tyres and getting a leaking valve fixed we finally left Melbourne at 4pm. Our 1st experience of the Nullarboor. Drove till 2am and stopped at Meningie (just before Adelaide) for a much needed sleep.
Music at last. Tui was happy!
Port Augusta, then filled up with the Big Boys at Ceduna.
Australia’s Longest Straight. We drove it!!!
Rest Stop for the night & the SA/WA Border. That was an education!
Floods near Kalgoolie.
Home at 10.30pm Thursday 11th December 2008. Didn’t even go inside but slept in the Motorhome.
A few days later we discovered all the steering bolts and everything that had been moved to convert it from left hand drive to right hand drive were loose! Scary, all that way with loose bolts!!
More to come!
