Stockton Lake January 2012

After leaving the farm we spent one night parked outside our home in Kinross to catch up with Anne & Matt and have a couple of drinks before they headed off to New Zealand for 2 weeks holiday. Replenished the groceries and then set off to Stockton Lake for a few days with friends, Gayle & Tom and Julie & Russell.  Jock & Annie were also at Collie so a great opportunity to see them too.

Tui & I arrived first and managed a get a great spot Lake side. We figured that it would be busy as Australia Day was approaching so arrived a couple of days prior.  We were right, lots of campers and lots of Ski Boats.

The 1st day there was just Tom, Tui & I with Russell & Julie arriving mid afternoon and Gayle driving down after work.

Lots of swimming and Kayaking as the weather was spectacular.  A bit hot for our poor fridge though.

Australia Day we all set off for Collie and had lunch at the tavern.  Great meal, then back for a swim.  Friday was Tom’s birthday so we all headed for Bunbury to do a spot of shopping and go out for lunch, beautiful day, not a cloud in the sky.  On the way back we saw some very dark clouds that we weren’t too happy about.  All our windows had been left open and the awnings out and not tied down.  Something we never do usually, is go away and not tie down the awning. We arrived to absolutely bedlam. Guys had arrived from everywhere to try and hold our awnings down, gale force winds and heavy rain which only lasted a short time.

Poor Julie and Russell lost their awning and had water damage inside where the water had come through the vents, so they packed up and went home.  We were lucky and only one side of the bed was wet, which dried out really quickly.  It would have been a different story if the guys camping around us hadn’t helped.

On Saturday Gayle and Tom took us out driving and we saw some lovely camp spots. Having a beer at Balingup tavern.

Back to camp and Gayle & Tom also packed up and went home.  Sunday dawned and Jock & Annie arrived.  It was their 10th anniversary of being on the road so they wanted us to join them for lunch.  This time we headed for Bridgetown and to the “Cidery”.  They make their own Cider and Beer.  Great place for lunch! We have never been out so much for lunches!!

All good things come to an end so Monday was pack up day to head back to Perth.  Stayed a night at Paul & Sue’s and had a lovely Roast Dinner.  Thanks guys. We are now parked in our driveway and Tui is putting new “Shocks” on Tiki Tourer.

Off to North Dandalup in 8 days for a few days.  Until next time “Laugh more, live longer”
