Blue Water – October 2012

Well we have now been in Blue Water for 5 weeks!  Man time flies!  The house is coming along pretty well although Tui is starting to get a bit tired as he hasn’t had a day off since the Ewan Races that we told you about in the last Blog.

As it is Roast night at the Bushlands Beach Tavern on Tuesday nights, Jude had a night off cooking and we headed down just before dark.  Managed to get a couple of photos but not very good quality. The meal at the Tavern is fantastic and only $15.99 a head. Good deal we thought!!

With the first layer of cladding complete it was then time to put up the weather boards.

At the local Community Centre, which is across the field from the Blue Water Rest Area, they provide very cheap meals and drinks on a Friday night.  You can’t beat $1.50 for a glass of wine!! The meals are a variety of Hamburgers, chips, kebabs, sausages in bread etc. pretty basic but good quality.  Once a Month they have a band or theme night.  Two weeks ago they had a Country & Western Band playing.  Tui kindly offered Jude’s services to help in the kitchen!  A big night with quite a few to feed.  Unfortunately we didn’t take the camera.  Perhaps next time.

With the outside cladding complete it was then time to start the Gyprock inside.  First the ceiling.

Ron arrived with some home grown bananas.  Although they are not big they were very tasty! The boys hired a lifter for the large sheets of Gyprock so while it was here they decided to do the lining of the veranda ceilings.

Although Tui hasn’t had a day off since the races, on Friday he had to go to town to get parts for Ron’s Compressor so decided to get the materials required to put our 3rd new battery in Tiki Tourer.  He has made a new bracket to go under the bed to house the battery.  We laughed about how he has finally started to get the hang of working in an outside workshop like our Mate Jock.

The last sheet of Gyprock on the walls went up today.  Yipee! Now Tim is all sorted to do the plastering.

Ron is away for a few days and asked us to go and feed his stock and horses while he is away. He purchases big drums of Molasses and dishes it out into troughs.  Man what sticky goo it is!!! But they love it!!

Well that’s about it from us for now!  Hopefully the next Blog will be a bit more interesting with some new places visited!

Until then ” Laugh more, live longer!”
