August 2012 – Bindi Bindi – Perth – Kalgoorlie

Another month done & dusted!! What a busy one it has been!

We spent a few days at the Quinns Rock Caravan Park before heading back to Bindi Bindi.  Great Caravan Park and we had the “Best” site with beautiful ocean views and really nice people.

Back to Bindi Bindi once again. It is amazing how many Road Trains and over size loads hauling a huge variety of goods, utilize the road.

Oversize negotiating the Bindi Bindi corner.

Parked on a 12 acre property on the Great Northern Highway.  This time to tile Jill & Andy’s new house.  The Main Bathroom, Landry & Ensuite.

Lovely house with a beautiful setting.

The property used to be the old Bindi Bindi Sports ground and still has the old tennis courts (trees growing through it now) cricket pitch and one remaining pole of the Footy oval.

Roland, Kim & Girls and Kim Clausen visited one weekend and all the girls played really well together.  Barbie lunch a few beers and great company.

It was Jude’s birthday while we were there.  Simon (Mate from Perth) arrived the day before and Theron (who drives 2 up from Perth to Port Hedland) got dropped off in the morning so with Jill, Andy & Girls we set off for Ballidu Tavern for lunch, approx 44kms.  Sunday Roast for $15 a head.  Roast Pork, Roast Beef & heaps of different vegies.  Yum!

Lauren called in on her way home from work with pressies from her, Pete & Eb (thanks guys) love the photo of you girls, very special!!  Tui had to wake Jude up as she was having a little snooze. The next day it was all go, finishing off the tiling. A much bigger job than we had anticipated, both bathrooms with floor to ceiling tiles.

Thanks Jill, Andy & Girls!  We really enjoyed our time with you and those fresh farm eggs were to die for!! A clean up day, packed up and back to Perth.  Camped outside our gate and our delightful friend and tenant, Justine,  insisted we have dinner with her and Georgia and what a dinner it was, a little cake with candles and all!! Georgia had decorated the table for a belated birthday tea for Jude.  Fantastic!  Thanks so much, it really felt special.

A few things to sort out in Perth.  We had taken one of our auto leveling legs off prior going to Bindi Bindi, the seal was leaking, and had left it with a guy in Perth to get fixed.  Well after many phone calls, 4 weeks later, discovered he had pulled it apart but not fixed it.

Had tea and caught up with Hayden, Tracy and boys Thursday night.  It was great to see them!  Then Friday night we helped them move to their new place finishing after 11pm, buggard! Jude didn’t even get to see the new place as she was packing and cleaning at the old one. We did intend to help again Saturday morning but by the time we got hold of them they had almost finished. Disappointing that we didn’t get to say a proper goodbye but I guess it saved on some tears!

We were suppose to go back to Bindi Bindi for Lauren’s 21st and Pete’s 50th (disappointed we couldn’t make it guys) but then the guy rang regarding picking up the leg for Tiki Tourer.  $100 later, still not fixed, and lots of talking, we filled up and headed to Malaga to pick up some Jarrah for friends, Jock & Annie, who are over East and can’t get it there.

Heading to Kalgoorlie, we got as far as Northam, stopped for Pizza for tea, then camped up at a Rest Area between Northam and Cunderdin.  Didn’t need any rocking to sleep that is for sure.

Arrived in Kalgoorlie around 3.30pm, dumped our tanks and filled with water and camped at Centennial Park.  This is a 48 hr free camp, right in town. We were only there about an hour and our friends George & Vicki pulled up.  A couple of beers later and something to eat and George asked Tui if he would paint his house. Looks like we might be here a couple of days! We will keep you posted!

Until next time, “laugh more, live longer”
